A quantum computing hackathon in Iași, as part of Qiskit Fall Fest
In the International Year of Quantum, the campus hosted its first hackathon, between 24 and 26 October 2025.
In honour of the International Year of Quantum, FreeYa Mind Campus hosted a hackathon in Iași between 24 and 26 October 2025, as part of the Qiskit Fall Fest supported by IBM Quantum — a worldwide series of events that brings people together to explore and learn about quantum computing.
Participants worked in Qiskit and ran circuits on utility-scale hardware, the kind built to return meaningful results rather than toy demonstrations. A preparatory training session was held about a week before the hackathon, so that everyone could arrive already familiar with the platform.
The future of quantum is not built alone. It is built by investing in students and local communities, sharing what we know, and giving the next generation something real to work on.
