21 April: a historic moment for Romania and FreeYa Mind Campus
The delivery of IBM Quantum System Two was signed in Bucharest, together with a collaboration protocol with University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest.
On 21 April 2026, Romania wrote a new chapter in its technological history. In Bucharest, we signed the delivery of IBM Quantum System Two — placing Romania among the very few countries hosting operational quantum infrastructure of this class. This is more than an acquisition. It is a statement of intent: Romania is stepping into the quantum era.
Quantum access for the whole country
At the same ceremony we signed a collaboration protocol with University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest, extending the FreeYa Mind community to a national scale. Alongside our academic and institutional partners from Iași, Cluj and Timișoara, UPB joins an ecosystem built around real, hands-on access to quantum technology. Students and researchers from across the country will be able to work directly on operational quantum systems.
The first generation of quantum professionals
The generation entering university today will be the first trained on quantum infrastructure of its own, here in Romania. That is not a distant vision — it is what we are building now. FreeYa Mind Campus exists precisely to turn access to this technology into a concrete opportunity for education, research and innovation.
Thank you
Our thanks go to IBM for their trust and for the strategic decision to choose Romania, to the IBM team involved in this milestone, to our university partners, to the public and private institutions beside us, and to everyone who believed in this project from the beginning.
